When we turned the map upside down, we didn’t do it for aesthetics. We did it because we deeply believe that the South has spent too long looking at itself through a mirror placed in front of it by others. So we decided to change it.
This is the story of why we exist.
Why do we always look north?
It’s a question that seems innocent, but it carries centuries of history. For a long time, the North set the course—economically, culturally, symbolically. And the South was left at the margins of the map—and the collective imagination—as if it were a secondary direction, a stopover destination.
We don’t see it that way. We never have.
Uruguayan artist Joaquín Torres García said it with a clarity that still resonates today: “Our North is the South.” Eduardo Galeano, in his unmistakable way of shifting perspectives, asked: “If the world is, as it is now, upside down, shouldn’t we turn it around so it can stand on its feet?”
At MuchoSur, we made those words our own. And we turned the map around.
The inverted map — more than a logo
Our logo—an inverted Latin America—is the most honest symbol we could have. It’s not a striking graphic device. It’s a stance.
When you see it for the first time, something feels off. And that’s exactly what we want: for you to question why it feels that way. To begin seeing the South for what it has always been—a horizon, a guide, a valid and powerful point of reference.
The logo carries within its form a historical, poetic, and identity-driven narrative. It is the insignia of a philosophy, not a company.

MuchoSur — a name that is a manifesto
We chose “MuchoSur” as our name because it says exactly what we are.
“Mucho” speaks of abundance, intensity, of living fully. “Sur” names our roots, our origin, our way of being in the world. Together, they create something beyond a commercial name: we are Mucho because we are Sur.
To say MuchoSur is to reclaim a collective pride. It reminds the traveler—and ourselves—that the South is not the periphery of anything. It is a vast, creative, diverse, and deeply human territory.
The South has direction — our first destinations
MuchoSur is not just a philosophy. It is a place you can reach.
Today, we are three hotels in Colombia, each a different expression of what it means to live the South deeply:
MuchoSur Quimbaya and MuchoSur Filandia — two Nature Lodges in the heart of the Coffee Region, where mountains, coffee, and biodiversity welcome you with a hospitality that smells like wet earth and wakes up with birds. Two ways to connect with one of Colombia’s most extraordinary cultural landscapes.
MuchoSur Santa Marta — an Urban Lodge that places you at the center of one of the oldest cities in the Americas, gateway to the Caribbean and the Sierra Nevada, where history and the energy of the sea coexist on every corner.
Three ways of being South. Three invitations to experience it from within.

Our philosophy — I am Mucho, I am Sur
Everything we do is born from a simple yet powerful certainty: the South is identity, it is root, and it is horizon.
I am Mucho, I am Sur is our affirmation of belonging. A way of moving through the world knowing where you come from and feeling proud of it. It is about celebrating the abundance of our cultures, the strength of our communities, and the beauty of the stories yet to be told.
Live Mucho, Travel Sur is our invitation to the traveler. Live intensely. Move with purpose. Explore territory through curiosity, closeness, and respect. Connect with nature, with people, and with the living memory of each place.
At MuchoSur, hospitality is a bridge between cultures. An act of sensitivity. A celebration of what connects us.
This is just the beginning
This blog was created to share exactly that: the South in all its diversity, authenticity, and depth. Travel, culture, communities, stories that deserve to be told—and heard.
Because when you say I am Mucho, I am Sur, you don’t just affirm an identity. You open a path.
And we will be here to walk it with you.
